Story:

It had been two months since Lyuba had competed in her last weight pull, so it almost seemed more like years to August. So, when the chance came up to have her compete in another, he took it quickly and without hesitation.

The day brought on chilly temperatures, a partly clouded sky and one very happy Sammy. August quickly prepared for the days festivities by unloading Lyuba from his SUV and grabbing the bag that contained all the equipment necessary for the day. A little chit chat went on amongst dog owners, then finally things seemed to get underway and with no time it was August and Lyuba's turn.

Her navy blue harness had been recently updated with light blue padding, as the older padding had gotten a little worn. And as they approached, the eager Samoyed began to wag her tail with anticipation as she knew what was coming next. It was even notable by the quick, sharp barks she made in triumphant glee at the idea of pulling weight.

As August found his place several feet away from Lyuba, the judge signaled it was time to get the dog working on pulling. And, quickly August began his call: "C'mon, Lyuba...C'mon girl!".

Lyuba did her initial test of weight as usual by moving off to the right and then to the left before straightening out again. As the ropes went taunt, she began the first initial dig into the snow with her nails. Then, instinctively a paw outstretched to grasp ahead and slowly but surely it began to do just that.
"That's it, Lyuba -- dig in, girl!", August shouted encouragingly.

A faint wag of the tail was visible before Lyuba produced to begin pulling without any hesitation as the sledge began to give a little more with each outstretched paw to the snow.
When they finished, Lyuba was released immediately and all but jumped into August's arms as the excitement of a job well done was praised. "Oh, what a good girl, Lyuba -- very good girl!".

Artist Comments:
Tried some different things in this, not sure I like them. I'm very disappointed with Lyuba's head -- but maybe next time I'll remember to do this a bit more ahead of time. Christmas kind of shorten my want to do much art! Otherwise, I quite like it!
Added in the story now, not as exciting as usual but still not to shabby..lol
